Canva has added a TONNE of new fonts to their collections!

I love when the platforms I use get updates – and especially when those updates add new tools to use! And that includes new fonts. Canva has been adding new font foundry partners, and there’s something like 250+ new fonts available to use on the platform now – many of which are free to use! So I thought I’d pull together a little round up of some of my favourites, to give you a starting point for designs you use for your brand. Maybe it’s time for a refresh of your typography – and some of these might be a great place to begin!

This one isn’t broken down by category – 

I try to break down my lineups of items on Canva by style, or type, or mood – but this one is just a brain-dump of some of my favourites. They’re fonts I’ve been using in templates that go on my Canva profile, and that I’ve been using for other content as well. Some of them are scripts, others are chunky modern typefaces – but I love them all, and hope you do too! 

Graveur Display – Free Canva Font

Graveur Display feels like a classic serif with a modern twist. A callback to traditional type, but with something elegant in its weights that makes it a brilliant option for brands looking for something simple, but elegant. If you want to use this one in your branding beyond Canva content, you can grab a licence over on fontspring, or, it’s included in Adobe Fonts.

Darkcastle Solid – PRO Canva Font

While I’ve not used Darkcastle Solid for any client projects – I would love the opportunity to! It’s gothic, has a bit of a witchy bent to it, but would be just as at home on a metal album cover. The added details in the caps are subtle, but super effective! This is one of the few in this list that are only available for pro use on Canva, and if you’re looking to use this font for commercial purposes within your branding, or on your website, you can grab a commercial license from the designer here.

The Silver Editorial – Canva Pro Font

This is another pro font – but I had to include it in this lineup because I just LOVE it. It’s sleek, it’s simple, it’s – as it’s title suggests – editorial. It’s got those new money vibes, and its height suits it well to making a big impact in smaller spaces. This one is originally by Silver Stag Type, and as they say in its description, it’s taken inspiration from 80’s fashion magazine type, but brought into the modern age. And I think that shows! If you want to use this one for commercial purposes or in your brand beyond Canva designed content, you can grab a license from Silver Stag Type directly.

Micky Rinse – FREE Canva Font

Micky Rinse is a bit of a wild card here, but I still love it enough to include in this collection – it’s something between a gothic type and classic calligraphy, and there’s something special about the geometric nature of it that has a specific draw. I particularly love the lower-case “f” character in this one, and can’t even entirely tell you why! You can use Micky Rinse with a free Canva account, and if you want to expand your use onto your website, or in other materials, you can grab a license over on fontspring.

Forward Serif – FREE Canva Font

Forward Serif would feel right at home in my Witchy Canva Font breakdown, and I might add it here soon, actually! I love this font, the inky details at the exterior of each character feel bespoke and handwritten – from another era, while simultaneously belonging here. This one is another gorgeous creation by Mans Greback, and you can grab a commercial license here if you want to use Forward Serif beyond just within Canva!

CoalHandLuke – FREE Canva Font

I absolutely love the feeling of CoalHandLuke. It has the organic tone of chalkboard writing, and captures texture beautifully. It’s also in the category I would call “witchy” though it’s witchy with an upbeat kind of mood instead of a gothic one! If you want to use this font more widely than via Canva, you can get a license from the designer here.

SLTF Curo – FREE Canva Font

In a wild turn of style, next up is Curo! It’s also by Silver Stag Type Foundry, but with a totally different vibe from The Silver Editorial above. But I love it equally, just for different reasons! This one is bold, it’s chunky, it’s modern – and like Silver Stag say themselves, it DEMANDS presence. If you’re looking for a commercial license beyond using Curo on Canva, you can get a commercial license here.

Meursault Condensed – FREE Canva Font

Meursault Condensed had to make this list – because it’s straight up gorgeous. The clean lines, with simple curvatures can’t be ignored, and it’s another of those fonts that feels both modern and timeless simultaneously. I’ve been using it in my designs, and every one comes out feeling polished and perfect! If you’d like to use this one beyond the Canva infrastructure, you can grab a license directly from Type Network. If you’re an Adobe Fonts subscriber, you’re also in luck, because it’s available there too.

Sinar Grotesk – FREE Canva Font

Another change in tone here, brings us to Sinar Grotesk, another font now available free to use within Canva! It’s a sans serif with attitude – especially in its bold variation, which I’m now realising I didn’t show here (sorry about that). My favourite aspect of this font is the geometry – it feels elegantly balanced, and the same is true of all its variations! If you want to use Sinar Grotesk beyond the Canva infrastructure, you can grab a commercial license through Tokotype.

Aneto Skyline Condensed – FREE Canva Font

Aneto Skyline Condensed is SHARP. It’s REFINED. And it’s straight up gorgeous. The art-deco tone comes through front and centre, and it’s another that I would happily add to my “witchy Canva fonts” lineup, though because of some pretty specific attributes it has. If you’re hoping to use Aneto Skyline Condensed beyond Canva, you can get a license from the foundry TypeTogether.

Guild a Banner – FREE Canva Font

Guild a Banner is another free font now on Canva, and like the previous listing, has a bit of an art-deco vibe going on! It’s gorgeously balanced in all weights, and takes diverse inspiration – you can grab a commercial license for Guild a Banner, and read more about it, here!

Gramatika – FREE Canva Font

Gumpita Rahayu gets another listing in this round up, with Gramatika! Like Sinar Grotesk, this is a gorgeously balanced, geometric sans serif, and I just LOVE its flow. What I love most about it, is the circular baseline, which makes each character feel like a singular whole, if that makes sense at all. It’s free to use on Canva, and if you’re looking to use it beyond that infrastructure, you can grab a commercial license for Gramatika on Tokotype.

Atlante Display – FREE Canva Font

Another font I keep coming back to in the new collections dropped by Canva recently, is Atlante Display. There’s something in its movement that’s a bit magnetic – the flow is elegant without being a true script or calligraphy, and it falls into the Editorial category enough to look like it would’ve been at home on gilded signage from the 1920s. You can grab a commercial license if you’d like to use this one in your branding, or, if you’re an Adobe Fonts subscriber, Atlante is available there too!

Rotulo Condensed – FREE Canva Font

Heading back to sans serifs, we’ve got the newbie Rotulo Condensed, which comes in a bunch of variations in this new font drop! Rotulo Variable is available on Adobe Fonts, if you want to utilise it for projects outside of Canva, and if you just straight up want a license, that’s available over on FontSpring.

Leksikal Serif – FREE Canva Font

Leksikal Serif is a sharp, but still somehow round, serif font, that I’m kind of obsessed with. The angular edges bring something elegant to the characters, and the pointed edges of each character makes this font feel like it sits somewhere between a serif, and a sans. Not quite fully one or the other, something all its own. If you’d like to use this one in your branding beyond Canva, you can grab a license over on Tokotype!

Job Clarendon Skyline – FREE Canva Font

Job Clarendon Skyline brings elegance to a slab type with punch! It takes inspiration from letterpress printing, according to Type Network, which comes through in the character sample you see above. If you’d like to use it beyond your Canva content, then you can grab a license from Type Network, or head over to Adobe Fonts, where it’s also available!

Club Lithographer – FREE Canva Font

Club Lithographer is gorgeous, in a tonne of ways. And let’s be honest, so are ALL of the fonts designed by David Jonathan Ross, his work is spectacular! But this one is available to use free on Canva, and if you want a commercial license, you can get it straight from DJR himself, here. Oh – and if you use Adobe Fonts, it’s on there too!

Nomina Bold – FREE Canva Font

Again, Gumpita Rahayu shines with a balanced, geometric sans serif! I love Nomina, because it’s simple, clean, and in the bold variation? It grabs attention QUICK, without being chaotic, or overtaking the visuals you’re using in whatever content you’re sharing! If you want to use this one for your branding beyond content on Canva, then you can get a license from Tokotype.

Maleo – FREE Canva Font

Finally, we round off the list with Maleo, a tall drink of water. It’s balanced. It’s editorial. It’s gorgeous. And I just LOVE using it across all of the available weights, for content of all kinds! I find it approachable, in a brilliant way, and it just might be the font your brand has been waiting for.
